On the banks of the mighty Savannah River, is Augusta, a magic blend of Southern charm and city fun. Here we celebrated the Georgia Red Hat Jubilee’s 10th Birthday in grand style at the Marriott Convention Center.
Thursday's optional day featured a Sunset Riverboat Tour on the Savannah River, then on Friday we eased into the celebration with a pool-terrace-side ice cream social complete with rollicking clowns who afterwards led a parade into the ballroom for the Gala Opening Ceremonies. After a charming “Fantasy Fables” Stroll on the Riverwalk, the ladies’ in their fanciful costumes continued the evening with delightful cocktails and dinner, and entertainment by the fabulous Todd Allen Herendeen and his Band where some of us danced and pretended we were 16 once again.
Saturday, of course, began with our traditional Pajama Breakfast and the deliciously sidesplitting 2014 announcement skit performed by the Georgia Peachiz. The afternoon Mad Hatter Tea Party was a quirky mixture of high fashion elegance and imaginative costuming. The Mad Hatter himself even extended special invitations to a few intriguing ladies to grace his onstage table. The merriment extended on into the evening with dinner and the amazing enthralling magic of Illusions by Vick.
It has been an amazing first ten years for the Georgia Red Hat Jubilee. And on Sunday we all headed home, happy in the friends we have made, the memories of fun we have shared, and the anticipation of the next Jubilee.
