INSTRUCTIONS
please read carefully

When you open the Board, a new window that looks like this will open.

Your use of the Board assumes you have read and agree to follow the rules stated below.

At the Jubilee the Board "regulars" all carried
sunflowers so they could easily spot each other.

NEW BOARD:
The Board's software to include improved security was updated in December of 2008. It will necessary for all of you to re-register if you originally registered prior to Dec 2008.

REGISTRATIONS WILL NEED TO BE APPROVED BY THE ADMINISTRATION BEFORE BECOMING ACTIVE.

If you are getting a message that says, "this user name is already taken" when you try to post:
That means that you have NOT yet logged in and will be required to do so before the board will recognize that you are really "you". You must also have cookies enabled on your system.

AOL USERS PLEASE READ!
Some ISP's such as AOL do not assign you an IP(address) for the duration of your internet connection, and this means during an internet session you IP can constantly change, phpBB ties its login sessions to their IP and therefore a changing IP can lead to issues such as being logged out or invalid session errors on posting. A possible fix for this is to:

  1. In your AOL Internet settings, be sure that you uncheck "Optimize web browsing using topspeed technology"
  2. Also make sure that when you are logging on to the board, you check the box beside "log me on automatically after each visit"
Note that the same "hanging ISP" problems might occur if you are using Google Web Accelerator.

HAVING PROBLEMS WITH REGISTRATION?
(please read here before you email us)

You can't see the "code" :
You will be asked to look at an image and type the "code" (string of letters & numbers) you see there. This is part of our new security measures and prevents web-robots from cruising through and registering so that they can retrieve your email addresses for spam. If you do not see the code image (a red X appears), then refresh the page until you do. If you cannot get the image to load, then you need to call your internet service provider and ask them why it won't load.

You typed in the "code" but it didn't work :
You must type in the exact letters and numbers you see in the image, use capital and lower case correctly.

You registered but cannot log on :
The final step in the registration process is to retrieve your confirmation notice in the email sent to you and click on the link provided to validate your email address.

You did not receive the confirmation-email from us:
That is most likely because you have a spam filter that prevents mail from our board reaching you. You will need to set your filter so that you can receive mail from "georgiaredhat.com".

FORUM RULES:
In keeping with our usual policy of "disorganization" and few rules, there are few rules for our bulletin board.
  1. Anyone is welcome to read the postings on our Board.
  2. You must register before you post.
  3. Board registration is limited to ONLY members of OFFICIAL chapters of the Red Hat Society. Since we have no way to check validation of members we must rely on individual honesty in this matter.
  4. You may upload an avatar to our hosting space or link to one hosted somewhere else (small photo of yourself that will appear beside your posts). Please resize your photo to a maximum of 90 X 90 pixels, and be sure it is no larger than 39KB in file size.
  5. Limit images in your signature to a maximum of 150 X 150 pixels.
  6. Limit other images in your posts to 300 X 300 pixels.
  7. Courtesy is expected !
  8. If you are having problems using the board, please consider the fact that it just may be your fault, not something wrong with the board itself. We will try to troubleshoot for you and help you, but in return you have to keep in mind the following:
    • reading the instructions helps.
    • using the board is a privilege, not an entitlement. If we feel that you are being disruptive or abusive, then we reserve the right to ban your use of the board.
    • it's easier to find what is causing the problem when one is actually there with you... so try asking a web-savvy teen friend to come over and help you out.
    • if we have banned you from the board then we will notify you by e-mail of that action.... so don't think your inability to log on is because you have been banned.
  9. Your use of this board constitutes your understanding that the Red Hat Society, it's chapters, this web site, and it's webmaster/developer are in no way responsible for what users post on this board.
