When I am an old woman I shall wear purple with a red hat

Find the "inner geek" in yourself. Learn to create a web site for your chapter. It's easy... it's fun! If you know basic computer functions like: turn off and on, open a window, save a document, copy/paste, use Microsoft Word.... then you can do it. Get connected.... communicate with your chapter ladies easily, quickly and efficiently.

  • learn with " hands-on" training, step-by-step, how to plan and build a web site for your chapter.
  • use Nvu's WYSIWYG (what-you-see-is-what-you-get) page editor that makes web site design as easy as using Microsoft Word. You will take a free copy of Nvu home with you to use.
  • use Paint Shop Pro to make simple images and edit photos. (a free trial copy is available for download on the Internet and your use at home)
  • have the option to make use of our pre-made page templates and extensive royalty-free image collections as a starting point to add to or alter as you wish.
  • learn to use Nvu's built-in FTP function to upload your site files to your hosting server space.
  • leave the workshop with the tools and knowledge to complete the rest of your site at home.

Since we are trying to keep the workshops low cost, we will use the free resources available to us at present.

  • in the Atlanta area, workshops will be held at the home of weblady (Marsha Elliott) in Alpharetta
  • workshops can be arranged for other areas if someone volunteers a location and provides a guest-room for weblady if travel makes an overnight stay necessary.

A $25 fee basically cover the costs of materials and resources used.

In order to participate in a workshop, your chapter must participate in our web site hosting offer, have paid for and received your confirmation that your site space is set up.

You must also have mastered the following basic computerskills:

  1. Know how to make a new file folder and how to move files from folder to folder
  2. copy / paste
  3. basic word-processing skills
  4. know how to open a web page with your browser and surf from site to site
  5. opening and saving files
